The church of St. Cajetan was modeled after the original design of St. Peter church in Rome and was built in laterite blocks, in the second half of the 17th Century by Italian friars of the Order of Theatines, known in Portuguese as Clérigos Regulares da Divina Providência. The Church of St. Cajetan is a three minutes walk from the Se Cathedral, to the right of the Viceroy's Arch and beyond the gate of Yusuf Adil Shah's Palace in Old Goa.
